Blue Gift Doily

Day three of the doily show and tell. This one is also made from a vintage pattern. I changed the edging mainly because my stitches looked a bit scrappy on the original version. The tension in cotton thread is a bit hard to get right sometimes. The threads I’ve used in this one are from America bought a few years ago when the pound was strong against the dollar. It made for some bargain shopping in The States. The colours are a lot richer than in the photo, my camera just doesn’t pick up blues and purples very well. I’m not sure what I’m doing with this one yet, maybe I’ll put it on Folksy I’ve yet to decide because I really like it myself. It’s approx eight and a half inches across, a good size.

Terracotta Doily

I love the colour of this doily but the camera hasn’t picked it up too good. This is the second of doilies. I have made this one before, a few years ago in cream cotton when I was just getting used to thread crochet. I’ve really enjoyed making the doilies and before one is finished I’m looking through my files for the next challenge. It’s made a nice change from amigurumi and the charity blankets I have been making. The pattern for this one isn’t a vintage one it’s  from here and a big thank you to the designers for being so generous sharing their designs.

Cream Shells Doily

My brain needed a challenge, so a few weeks ago I decided to pick up thread crochet again. It’s something I haven’t done for a few years and I knew doily patterns would give me the needed challenge.Vintage patterns are a challenge too, I have a few books of them that don’t have very clear instructions. My first attempt is this little cream cotton one. Made with cluster shells it makes a nice finished mat. I’ve put it in the shop, not sure if it will sell or not, if it does I have more to add. Tomorrow I’ll show you the second one that I’ve made.

Valentine Mouse

My first crafty contribution to Valentine’s day. A little white crocheted mouse complete with a heart to give to you. I’ve enjoyed making him and am pleased with the results. As usual he’s in the shop and can be found here.

Two Glumps

I made a Glump a couple of days ago, the lilac one in the photo.  Glump just seemed a good name for them. Today he was featured on cuteable Thank you very much Lynsey for that. I’ve made two glumps with slight differences. I think I prefer the eyes on the lilac one myself. The eyes just look better a bit closer together. What do you think? Maybe I should list one in my little shop it could use a bit more cuteness. I might just make a few more test ones and see how different textures and colours work.

Granny Square Blanket

Finally after all this time the granny squares blanket is finally finished. Well I’m a bit late with this post, the blanket was listed here on Sunday.  It’s lovely even though I say so myself. It measures around 40 x 68 inches with a nice plain black border. It’s just right for snuggling under and watching TV. The photos don’t really show it at it’s best but the light’s been so poor recently I can’t get a decent photo. I hope that it sells and goes to a good home. That’s not all I’ve been doing, I will be back tomorrow with my new creature.
