Long 'Stretch' Johnson

What a treat we’ve had this week. The circus came to town, the Cirque de Chaussettes to be exact. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the photos on Flickr at the weekend.  It’s all the amazing work of  Sarah who now has two shops on Folksy & also on Etsy. The details in her work are amazing. Long ‘Stretch’ Johnson  has  a mouth that can actually swallow a felt swordfish, he even has a pink tongue!

As well as Stetch we also have the ringmaster, of course. What circus wouldn’t be complete without one. He’s called Monsieur Alphonse Poissonnier, and the detail there is also amazing. I really can’t choose a favourite from the pair. You have to get yourself over there and take a look. Sarah really has outdone herself with this work and I hope that lots of sales will follow.

Valentine Mouse

My first crafty contribution to Valentine’s day. A little white crocheted mouse complete with a heart to give to you. I’ve enjoyed making him and am pleased with the results. As usual he’s in the shop and can be found here.

Roxy Cat

Snow hit Doncaster again yesterday morning with a vengeance. It started at 7.30am and lasted all day until late evening. The buses stopped running, schools closed and folks were sent home from work. I tried and tried to get in the crafting mood but it just wasn’t happening. No motivation at all while surrounded by snow. So what do you do on a snow day? Well Roxy has the right idea, you curl up tight, squeeze your eyes shut and just ignore it.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of my first Folksy year. It would of been sooner but I couldn’t decide if it was for me or not. At that time Folksy was very slow and that put me off a bit when I tried to have a look around the site, but I did sign up and a week or so later SophieCat was born. My sales have just hit 37, which isn’t too bad. I’ve learnt a lot of new things during the last year, mainly about promotion, thanks Leanne and met a lot of nice friendly creative people.

I’ve sold on line in other places before but I must admit Folksy is now my favourite place even though I’m now selling less than previous years. A blog and a Flickr account were created and the rest is history. The first item I sold after just a couple of weeks was a felt  cupcake brooch, fabric brooches have been a good seller since.  Little crochet critters have done quite well too.  Even with little promotion most of my sales have been to Folksy members that don’t have shops themselves, but I have had some brilliant Folksy repeat customers including Sarah who’s set me a few challenges over the last few weeks.

I’ve taken part in a couple of destash swaps, swapped goods with other sellers and a Christmas ornament swap, won a blog giveaway and crafted for charity too. All in all it’s been a nice Folksy year for me. A big thank you to the bloggers that have posted about my items and thanks to Lynsey for featuring my cuties on Cuteable three times. I was and still am very chuffed at the attention. Thanks everyone for making my first year a good one.

Happy anniversary SophieCat.

Well what can I say, I didn’t realise how long it was since my last post. Almost a month, I just haven’t had the motivation to blog, I lost it sometime before Christmas. Now we have a  brand new year now to look forward to, hopefully it will be a good for us all. On that note I’ll just say a Happy New Year to everyone and I vow to blog more in 2010.
