I finally managed to get something sorted for the upcycle competition at folksy. This purse and pouch were made from an unraveled knitted scarf, lined with fabric from a pillow case, all bought from a local charity shop, washed and upcycled into something new. I don’t expect to be a winner, I just wanted to take part in it. The other entries can be seen here . Please pop over and bid, it’s all for a good cause.

More progress on the Granny squares blanket. Last night I made a start on finishing the blanket. I finally decided on sewing the squares together. It also gave my hands a much needed rest from the crochet hook. Sewing is gentler on my poor fingers and wrists. I like the look of it so far, a good old fashioned blanket in lots of different colours. I think when it’s finished I might list it on Folksy. I’m not sure what sort of price though. I shall wait and see what the end product looks like.

Over on the Folksy forum a few weeks ago someone suggested that we swap goods from our shops with each other rather than buying from each other.

It’s been a success and I’ve got two lovely items so far. The first one is the lovely cushion cover in the photo from Julia of Midsummer Stitches. It has pride of place in my seat and the cats have been warned to keep away from it. Julia chose an amigurumi bunny and some strawberry buns from me . She also ordered two more bunnies, so happy bunnies all round here.
Last week I did a swap with Fatema of Rara Avis on Folksy.

One of my Christmas wreath brooches was requested by Fatema . I chose one of her lovely handmade note books. It really is nice, hand stitched with recycled paper pages and a secret pocket too. Once again I’m very pleased with it.
Well at least over at Folksy we’re getting Christmas shopping done without any money changing hands. It’s good fun and maybe should be an all year round thing to do.
