Anyone who knows me, knows that I love charity shop shopping and browsing.

The last couple of weeks I’ve had some really good buys. I love a bargain, rummaging and knowing that your purchase goes to a good cause. The photos shows three good buys that I’ve had this week. Two really good craft books that cost less that £1 for them both. The grey check fabric was £2.50 for the huge piece. There’s about four yards of it and it’s around 60 inches wide. I’m not sure of the fibre content, it has some wool in it but not a big percentage. It’s nice and soft and cuddly.
I spent most of yesterday afternoon wondering what it had originally been bought for. A coat, suit, man’s dressing gown? Who knows, I do know that my imagination was running away with me when I wondered what to use it for. I will probably squeeze as much as possible out of it! I was thinking maybe a throw with crochet edging, cushion covers,a bag, a phone case, pouches, animals, cheeky monsters, the list goes on. It’s a good job it is a huge piece.

I’ve been ill, out of action for a full seven days. I’ve never been ill like that before, I now feel as if I haven’t slept for a month. Everything’s so much effort, BUT I am now starting to feel a bit better. I’ve had flu for the first time in all my 52 years. I don’t want it again ever. The body has been broken but the brain working overtime (well sometimes). One good thing is I have lost over eight pounds, I suppose that will soon be back on though!
I have over a weeks worth of crafting to catch up with, folksy items, competition item, Christmas ornament swap and the Folksy items to list that I didn’t manage the week before last. It looks like I’m going to be busy, very busy.

Today I can reveal the chicken details.

Meet Lulu, I won her in a blog give away from Jenny. Jenny makes lots of these chickens for door stops and paper weights for her folksy shop. The one I won is a paper weight and I love her. She’s made from preloved fabrics and has a recycled tag with her name on it. Take a look at her Folksy shop and see Jenny’s work for yourself.
Now you’ve met Jenny meet her husband Joe . Joe makes brilliant sculptures from broken equipment and also draws illustrations for his cards and magnets. Both Joe & Jenny are passionate about their work and are big on recycling and eco friendliness.
Anyway back to Lulu, both cats have approved her but I have warned them that she’s mine and not theirs!

Well it has been a lovely week so far, today I was featured in another cuteable post by Lynsey.

This time it was my blue felt Christmas stocking which is decorated with snowmen buttons and pompom snowballs.
Thank you very much Lynsey.
Also on Sunday I won a lovely chicken, but for the details you will have to wait until my chicken arrives. I will then reveal all. I was very excited to say the least when I read that I was the winner of the competition. I rarely win anything, though many, many years ago I did win a frozen chicken!

I’m all excited again. I’ve been featured in Leanne’s Blog in her felt feature. I got a shock when I went over to read it and saw my felt chocolates sitting there. Thanks for that Leanne.
Leanne has a shop over at Folksy, she’s a wonderful woman and never tires in promoting Folksy and handicrafts. I know she writes at least two blogs ( I think it may even be three ) produces an online crafts magazine, gives us all good advice, runs her home, has a young daughter and husband to look after and even finds the time to fill her online shops and always come up with original designs. We really don’t know where she gets the energy from or time. Thanks Leanne, you’re a star.

This week’s Autumnal weather got me thinking about more Christmas crafts. I love Autumn and the run up to Christmas. I love the preparing and making. When the kids were younger I baked, made pickles, made decorations for us. Christmas just isn’t the same now they are older. My efforts are put into selling my Christmas crafts now, although I often make cards and bits for us to decorate with. The kitchen table (my workshop) was looking a bit like Christmas this morning.
I’ve got the two beaded stockings listed today on Folksy . A nice pink and pale blue one, both inspired by vintage decorations we had all those years ago when I was a girl. The shop has quite a few Christmas items now. All we want is for Folksy to add the sections for our shops and it will look a whole lot more organised. We have been promised it’s coming soon!
Anyway I must go and I’ve promised myself I will blog more often.
